I made it!

Hey everyone! Just want to let you know I made it here safe and sound. I'm currently in Madrid and I just finished eating lunch. Our hotel is so beautiful and the pool is huge. I hope I'll have time to hang out by it. In a few hours I'll be leaving for a Madrid bus tour. I'll let you know how it goes!

¡Hasta Luego!

It's finally here!

It's finally time for me to leave for Spain! Here's my schedule for the next few days:

Tomorrow morning I will be leaving the Grand Rapids train station at 7:35 am (yuck!) to Chicago! Once there, Colleen is going to be taking us (me and Lana) from the train station to the airport. Then it's off to Madrid (after a stop in Newark). I'll be in Madrid around 11:30 am on Sunday (which will be 5:30 am Michigan time).

We get to spend a few days touring Madrid and Segovia before we get to Bilbao and meet our families. I'm so excited to see what the capital looks like and to see Spain for the very first time. I'm sure it's gorgeous! I hope the weather won't be too humid though! I'm surprisingly not very nervous yet, probably because I'm sharing the long journey with one of my bff's. That is going to help a lot! The only thing I'm really nervous about is speaking Spanish, but I think that's expected.

I'm going to miss all of you a lot so please write me lots of emails and fb messages! My new email address is alissa.toni.rodriguez@gmail.com if you want to send me something there. If you want a postcard, send me an email with your address! :)

Espero que sea una viaje maravillosa! Hasta luego!

And my family is...

On Wednesday I received an email from the University of Deusto informing me that I will be living with a single woman in her sixties named Amelia. She loves to cook and is willing to help me with anything I may need. She has a pet dog and I will have my own bedroom and bathroom! Talk about being spoiled! The only downfall is that I will have to take a fifteen minute bus ride to class. But I think it will be worth it :)

I'm excited to have a single mom so that I can practice speaking Spanish a lot. She sounds really nice and I'm looking forward to meeting her. If I thought time was flying in the last post, it is really flying now! Only 14 days left! I can't believe it. I still have to buy some things to pack and I should probably make a detailed list of everything I need to bring so I don't forget anything (and so I don't over pack too much). I'll attach a picture of the school I will be attending so you can see what it looks like.

Hasta Luego!
